St. Jarlath's is the Vocational School, housed in the old workhouse which, like many workhouses from the nineteenth century, is a fine, well-built structure. It was converted to its present use in 1932. Call: 09096 79231.

The Agricultural College, run by the Franciscan Brothers, has been in Mountbellew for a century. The town owes much to the Franciscan Brothers who came to Mountbellew in 1818. For many years they provided education for the children of the neighbourhood. It is in the College grounds that the annual agricultural show is held every September where not only are there exhibits of sheep, cattle, donkeys, horses (and jumping) and other animals, but also shows of arts and crafts.
